A life-long resident of Broome and Tioga Counties, I am a graduate of Union-Endicott High School. Armed with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from RIT, I joined IBM as a programmer and enjoyed a 32 year career in engineering and management, retiring in 2006 as Engineering Director from Cadence Design Systems. I earned an MS in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University along the way, and was privileged to be assigned to a Division Headquarters post in White Plains for 2 years and to the National Science Foundation sponsored Cornell National Supercomputer Facility at Cornell University for 3 years.

I lived in Apalachin most of my adult life and raised three sons with my wife who passed away in 2002. Now living in Vestal with my Significant Other, I continue to be very active in the community. I am currently Membership Director and Immediate Past-President of the Endicott Lions Club, and Treasurer of the Al Hazzard Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and over the years have been very active in leadership positions of other organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, the Vestal Youth Recreational Soccer Association, and my Church.

Spare time being a precious commodity, fly fishing for trout is a passion to be indulged. We know all fishermen are liars, but I really mean it when I say that it doesn't matter whether I catch fish or not; just being on the water, immersed in nature is enough for me. Some day I hope to have enough time to get serious about tying my own flies, as there is nothing better than taking a trout on a fly tied by one's own hand.

Other spare time activities include going to hockey games. Hooked on hockey since my youngest son started playing at the age of 5, I am a supporter of the Binghamton Senators (and the Rangers, Whalers and Dusters before them) in good years and bad. My youngest son, Rob, worked for the Senators as an intern for 4 years and is now working for the Atlanta Thrashers!

When the day's work is done, there is nothing like a glass of wine to cap the day. I've come to appreciate the many varied wines of New York State. Check out some of the Finger Lakes Winery web sites linked from the My Favorite Links page.
